Abstract

The development of information technology has encouraged libraries to transform their services by providing digital-based services. This condition requires librarians to possess adequate digital competencies in order to deliver information services effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with users’ needs in the digital era. The objectives of this study are to examine the forms of librarian professional development in supporting digital-based services, identify the challenges faced by librarians in implementing digital services, and determine the strategies used to enhance librarians’ competencies in digital-based services. This study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source triangulation techniques. The findings reveal that librarian professional development in supporting digital-based services is carried out through the enhancement of digital competencies, the utilization of information technology in various library services, and active participation in training programs and professional development activities. The challenges encountered include limited opportunities for continuous training, the rapid advancement of technology, and varying levels of technological proficiency among librarians. Librarian professional development was carried out through competency needs analysis, education and training programs, and the implementation of the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI). These strategies contributed to improving librarians' professional competencies in supporting the implementation of digital-based library services. The study concludes that librarian professional development at the UPA Library of Universitas Jambi has supported the implementation of digital-based library services through the enhancement of librarians' competencies. However, continuous competency development and improvements in technological infrastructure are still needed to further enhance the quality of library services
